∘ All Aspects

//Programs

∘ SideFX Houdini
∘ Pixar Renderman

//Description

∘ The Textile Suite is a combination of 5 simple Houdini Digital Assets which can be structured in numerous ways in order to create a plethora of stunning's results
∘ The system design is inspired by a nodular approach to allow both creative and technical artists the greatest amount of flexibility when using the Suite, and more coherent integration with Houdini systems
∘ The Textile Suite was developed for use in the Summer Industry Course Short Lilli at Texas A&M; however, its combabilities have far surpassed the projects requirements

//Material Breakdown

∘ The yarn knit material consists of multiple levels of details which are compiled to form the final tactile look
∘ The development of the Knit Material can be broken down into 3 phases: Structure, Form, and Color
∘ Structure: Development of the underlaying textile curves and global noises related to the overall material shape
∘ Form: Individual processing of each curve into a specific material type including fly aways, pilings, etc.
∘ Color: by calling attributes used to create the structure and form, intricate patterns can be created by layering the results

//Variations

∘ Variants created using the yarn tool within the Textile Suite Tool
∘ [Left - Right] Yarn, Thread, Knit, Nylon, Rope, Mesh
***All Variants are shaded using the same base hair shader. All variation is due to forms created within the textile suite***

//Houdini Tool Breakdown

∘ The complete system is broken down into 5 custom Houdini Digital Assets in order to allow seamless integration with various Houdini workflows
∘ Textile Suite HDA List: UV Projection, GEO Noise, Yarn, Thread, Cd Manage, Frayed Edges

//Theory Reference

∘ Structural diagrams for physical yarn spinning using S and Z twist
∘ Weave patterns for various textile including linear and weave/knit based patterns
***Images used to inform digital tool development were compiled from google and NOT made by me***

//Lilli

∘ The Textile Suite was developed for the Summer Industry Course Short "Lilli" in order to complete the characters unique surfacing needs

//Project Reflection

∘ The Suite has future potential to include rope presets which can toggled through
