∘ Whiskey: what could possible be a better subject for a splash sim than the classic and mesmerizing look of a whiskey with a big cube?
∘ Whiskey was a Simulation and Look Dev intensive project focusing on believable dynamics with photorealistic rendering.
∘ Remapped to music, the simulation was designed create an iconic crown splash
∘ The project was later enhanced after the simulation render to include increased detail in the glass surfacing and further exploration into caustics

∘ Whiskey utilizes Houdini's FLIP Solver in conjunction with a Rigid Body Destruction Solvers to create the final Effect
∘ The Ice cube and glass are a simple RBD, before combining solvers allowing a mutual relationship with the FLIP particles [see in the adjusted cube dynamics]
∘ Once finalized the fluid particles where meshed, and the original glass and cube geometries were booleaned out to create a clean final mesh
∘ In order to achieve the iconic light refractions associated with Whiskey the use of a more advanced integrator was necessary
∘ The VCM integrator allows for increased accuracy when tracing light rays and merging hot spots to form "caustics"
